Who is responsible

This site is run by Robert Turner, an independent editor based in Canada. I decide how any personal data collected here is used, and I am the person to contact about it — at info@robertturner.co.

Because I work with clients internationally, this notice offers the rights set out in Canada's PIPEDA and, for visitors in the UK and EU, the equivalent rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR.

The contact form

If you use the form on this site, I collect the name, email address and message you type in. I use them for one purpose: to read and reply to you. I don't use them for marketing, and I don't sell or share them.

The form is delivered by Web3Forms, a third-party service that receives your submission and forwards it to my inbox by email. Your message is kept in that mailbox for as long as our correspondence is useful. You can skip the form entirely and email me directly instead.

Why I'm allowed to: you chose to contact me, and replying is the obvious purpose. Under GDPR terms this is a legitimate interest.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Nothing follows you around, and there's nothing to opt in or out of — which is why there's no cookie banner.

The one thing stored in your browser is your light/dark theme choice. It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which automatically records access logs (IP address, browser, page requested) to keep the site up and secure. Page content is managed in Sanity.io, which holds my published writing, not your personal data.

Your rights

You can ask me what personal data I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Visitors in the UK and EU can also object to or restrict how it's used, and ask for a copy in portable form. Email info@robertturner.co and I'll answer.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Visitors in the UK can complain to the ICO, and those in the EU to their national data protection authority.
